Applications

WSV-3000 is a specially formulated oil emulsion that is absorbed into the wood fiber and repels water. This vehicle should be blended with high Tg Acrylic and Polyurethane emulsions to provide rich looking semi-transparent wood stains. Properly formulated stains can withstand repeated staining up to 4 hours without showing overlap marks. WSV-3000 should be formulated into the sanding sealer and topcoat to provide improved intercoat adhesion. The blending emulsion will determine the basic film properties.

Recommended Additions

Blending resins should be higher in Tg due to the plasticizing nature of WSV-3000. The recommended starting point can vary with the application technique. Spray applied stains may require 50 - 60% WSV-3000 modification due to high atomization pressures. Typical modifications for wiping stains will be 25 - 35% with WSV-3000. Sanding sealers (15 - 25%) and topcoats (5 - 15%) should be modified with WSV-3000 to enhance workability and intercoat adhesion.
